Drive 4 UR Community is an outgrowth of Drive 4 UR School that the Ford Motor Company started to help local non-profits finance their programs. The Manheim Drive 4 UR Community benefits another driving-related program in Manheim, called B.R.A.K.E.S., that’s held for young drivers in the Manheim Central School District.
“The Drive 4 UR Community program is a unique and exciting way to engage the local community and support their fund-raising efforts. Ford and Ford Lincoln dealerships partner with a local organization to conduct a test-driving fundraising event. For every valid test-drive completed, Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to the participating organization, up to $6,000! So, the more people who test-drive a Ford vehicle at the event, the more money can be raised!” according to Drive 4 UR Community.
The program’s mission is two-fold: to help a community’s fundraising efforts while introducing as many people as possible to Ford and Lincoln cars and trucks.
The Drive 4 UR Community started after the success of Ford’s Drive 4 UR School program. Locally, Manheim’s Drive 4 UR Community raises funds to promote a community program aimed at young drivers called B.R.A.K.E.S. It’s a non-profit program that teaches young, licensed drivers how to safely react in an emergency situation while on the road.
B.R.A.K.E.S. is free of charge to attendees, and therefore, relies on donations, sponsorships, and other fundraising venues to finance their local program. According to Put On the Brakes, “In order to hold a driving school in your community, B.R.A.K.E.S. requires assistance in bringing the program to you. In general, the cost is about $300 per student, and one weekend of B.R.A.K.E.S. instruction will train approximately 10 students.”
Hondru Auto Company in Manheim hosted the event to raise money for the Manheim B.R.A.K.E.S. program.
