When a typical used car enters the Hondru Auto Group, our team reviews the vehicle and performs a basic inspection to determine if it can remain in inventory as a used vehicle for sale to our customers. When that car, truck, or SUV meets some very specific criteria, it could get a bit more attention to determine if it can become a Chevy CPO. The first questions are very basic:
- The vehicle must be less than 6 years old
- It must have fewer than 75,000 miles
- The title on the vehicle must be clean, meaning it has never been declared a total loss by an insurance company and rebuilt
If the pre-owned vehicle meets these criteria, then it can proceed to the rigorous 172-point inspection. The inspection process to become a CPO vehicle is the most in-depth and comprehensive in the automotive industry. It includes verifying the function and soundness of nearly every system and component on the car, from the air conditioning, suspension, transmission, and engine to the condition of the body and things as cosmetic as the floor mats. The vehicle must pass all aspects of the process to earn the Certified Pre-Owned Chevrolet badge. Additionally, the dealership will obtain a CARFAX vehicle report to further verify the vehicle's condition and rule out any potential hidden damage or issues. When all of these inspections and evaluations are completed, it is only the very best pre-owned Chevy vehicles that will become CPO selections.

The CPO Bumper To Bumper Warranty
CPO vehicles include an extension of the manufacturer's bumper-to-bumper warranty, which provides coverage for an additional 12 months or 12,000 miles, with no deductible required for any repair. The only items not covered are those considered consumable, such as tires and wiper blades, as well as damage from an accident, misuse of the vehicle, modifications made to the car, corrosion due to environmental factors, and poor or inadequate care and maintenance.
The CPO Powertrain Limited Warranty
The second warranty covers the powertrain for an added six years or 100,000 miles and can be transferred to the next owner if you sell the vehicle. It covers the majority of the engine, transmission, and drive system components, with the same kinds of exceptions as the bumper-to-bumper warranty.
